Catherine Ellen (aka Alice) Savery

Catherine Ellen Savery was born in Camberwell on 3 September 1877.

Though it was by the name Alice that she was more commonly known.

Whether this has any connection with her mother's middle name is unclear. On some documents Alice
uses Catherine as her middle name along with variations of Ellen, but always with Alice as her forename.

On Christmas Day 1898 she married Joseph Thring Windaybank in Fulham.

Joseph had a half brother Joseph William (known as William) whose mother died just a few months after giving birth.

The following year they had a daughter, Violet Helena J. Windaybank, and were listed on the 1901 Census at 150 Blythe Road in Hammersmith.

They subsequently had Arthur Joseph T. (in 1900), Lilian Susan (1902), and Frederick Charles in 1903. However, Joseph, an electrical wireman, then became ill and passed away at just 27 years of age in March 1904.

Alice subsequently met Isaac Tottman and they had their first child, Reuben, in 1906.

They later decided to get married, tieing the knot on 25th July 1909 in Kensington.
